Responsibility deal

Health Secretary Andrew Lansley yesterday set out his plans for a new Public Health Service. During the speech, Lansley said that he wanted to create a framework which “empowers people to make the changes.” Priorities will include; decreases in health inequalities, reduced childhood obesity and more people taking part in physical activity.

One of the key components of the framework will be a new responsibility deal between Government and business built on shared social responsibility - and not state regulation. The AA’s Director of Communications, Ian Barber, appeared on behalf of business4Life, on Today and Radio 5 (click through to 2h.40m) this morning, to discuss the positive role business can play in tackling the nation’s public health issues.

Play4Life ad campaign features top international football talent Frank Lampard and Thierry Henry

A new advertising campaign has been unveiled to encourage parents to take their kids out to play more, featuring top international football stars Thierry Henry and Frank Lampard.

The campaign is branded Play4Life, part of Change4Life, a national campaign to encourage families to eat well, move more and live longer. Global football icons Thierry Henry and Frank Lampard personalise and drive home the importance of the key message, which is ‘Active parents make active kids’.

The campaign has been produced by PepsiCo in partnership with advertising agency AMV BBDO and media agency OMD.

Business4Life response to launch of Public Health Commission report

Business4Life (b4L) welcomes the Public Health Commission report launched today that acknowledges the important role of the private sector in tackling the obesity crisis in the UK.

FITNESS INDUSTRY DONATES £3MILLION WORTH OF FITNESS- TO GET THE NATION MOREACTIVE4LIFE

The Fitness Industry led by the Fitness Industry Association (FIA) has united to donate £3 million worth of fitness, with the aim to get the nation more active. The initiative, entitled MoreActive4Life, will provide 40,000 hours of access to trained exercise professionals and local clubs/leisure centres across England with the official launch on 1st July 2009, as part of the Government's Change4Life campaign.

ITV launches a nationwide search to find role models and healthy heroes as part of the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards

ITV has launched a nationwide search to find role models and healthy heroes as part of the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards. Regional news programmes in England, Wales  and Northern Ireland  have joined forces to invite viewers to nominate outstanding individuals for the ITV Feelgood Factor Award.

The title will go to an outstanding individual who supports and enables others to change their lives for the better. ITV viewers will be asked to put forward inspirational champions who encourage by example the rest of us to lead healthier lives.

The deadline for nominations is Friday 7th August and finalists and a guest will be invited to attend the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London’s Park Lane on the evening of Monday 5th October.

The two hour Pride of Britain Awards show hosted by Carol Vorderman will be screened on ITV1 in October.

Earlier this year, as a member of business4life and in support of the change4life campaign, ITV produced and aired three primetime Saturday night shows called 'The Feelgood Factor' to help families live more healthily. These healthy lifestyle messages are also promoted through regional news programmes and online.
